it's the never-ending storrrrryyyyyyy

This litter is named after The Neverending Story because that's what it feels like it is in rescue, right? I saw these free puppies being given away which always makes me cringe because of course they're not altered, they have no vaccines, and there is no process to ensure they're going to a good home. And so, I did what I do and offered to take the puppies and help get the mom spayed so we don't have more litters.

I contacted several other rescues who specialize in small dogs, and they all assured me that yes they would happily intake this crew.

And then...

Their fosters bailed, and so they bailed.

And so I did what I do.

I took them into our rescue and set them up a place to hang out in my office. Because what's the other option? I already promised that I would keep them safe, and so I will.

Now we weren't really in a position to take these guys on, hence my attempt at collaboration with other rescues. But now they're here, and so we will improvise, adapt, and overcome. Now we need to get vaccines started since they're obviously staying and we're nearing the end of the quarantine period.

That's SIX office visits at $20 each and SIX initial DHPP vaccines at $22 each for a total of $42 per puppy and a grand total of $252

Drew's Story

My sweet Drew.

She came to us when we were still with Paws Without Borders. Her mom and 10 babies were cleared for euthanasia at a very overcrowded shelter in California. The director of that rescue had been sent their posts several times, so we agreed to take them in. By time they got to us two of the babies had died.

That was just before Thanksgiving in 2025.

I had been listening to The Life of a Showgirl pretty much on repeat, so when the internet voted that the theme was Swifties...I was pretty happy.

And so they became Mama Taylor + Her Swifties.

Clara Bow, Ophelia, Marjorie, Showgirl, Willow, Este, Archer, and Drew.

Mama Taylor was adopted first, and her name is now Ellie. She lives with an amazing couple and her two new dog friends: B - Radley and Hopper. Clara Bow became Miami and her family loves her so much. We just got to see her at a playgroup, and that was so lovely. Ophelia was adopted by a fellow Swiftie family and stayed Ophelia. She's spoiled and living the best life. Marjorie is now Mater and the updates on him always make us smile. Showgirl became Sedona and life for her is awesome.

Then adoption stopped for this litter for months.

When they started again, we saw Willow go to a new home and keep her name. She has a little dachshund brother and their updates are so cute. Este became Julia, and she was recently told by her family that she is the puppy they always wanted. Archer is still Archer, and I get to see him all the time when we go on walks together!

When we went onto our own and created Holiday House, Drew got transferred to us. And we're so glad she did because we adore her. We aren't sure why Drew hasn't found her forever family yet because she's pretty amazing.

And in October she will turn one in foster care. While she is absolutely cared for and loved in our rescue, she does deserve a family of her own. Plus that frees up a space for us to continue rescuing more dogs.

She is a little high energy and requires mental stimulation and physical outlets, but she's incredibly smart and loves people. She handles new things in stride. She is crate trained, potty trained, and walks on a loose leash.

Drew is on a little foster vacay to go stay with one of our fosters and a friend of mine to see different things and be around some younger kids. She is doing amazing and it's just proof that she can fit in anywhere.

You can meet Drew by filling out the application on the "adoptable" page and selecting Drew or at the link below. If you have questions, please feel free to text or email us.

sanctuary animals

A Farm Sanctuary for Safety + Freedom

We may have only just become a registered charity to do this rescue work, but we are not new to the world of animal welfare. Our founder and director has been volunteering in shelters since she was 16 and fostering for years. When she was a teacher, that schedule lined up perfectly for fostering orphan bottle litters short term to get them ready for adoption.

Mark and Rhonda have multiple rescue animals that they took into their home and provided a life for including multiple farm animals. In the last few years, they have rescued and re-homed several horses, donkeys, and other various animals independently. Some of them have found sanctuary here on their farm.

They know that now they will be able to help even more animals with the support of a community. And they look forward to being able to do that. They are currently closed for sanctuary animals on the farm, but as time, space, and finances allow those spaces will open up. Providing these spaces for animals with nowhere to go is expensive and time consuming. It also always ends with a broken heart.

Currently on the farm there are six horses (two sanctuary horses), four donkeys (all sanctuary donkeys), five goats (all sanctuary goats), three pigs (all sanctuary pigs), about 15 hens, two roosters (sanctuary status), and a turkey (sanctuary status). That is in addition to the dogs and cats. We also have a flock of pigeons that have made our farm their home.

For the foreseeable Sundays, we will be doing a Sanctuary Spotlight to introduce each of these special animals to the world. Please make sure you're following us here and on our socials to read their amazing stories. You can find all of our links by clicking HERE.

meet our founder + director

Meet our Executive Director + Founder

Hello!

I'm Rhonda, and this rescue has been a dream of mine for a long time. I am so happy to see its creation and to begin working on this mission even more than I've already been doing my entire life.

For as long as I can remember I have saved animals that needed help. As a teen, I began volunteering at the local shelter and humane society. I brought home every stray animal I ever found. I volunteered at several different wildlife centers, and I worked at a vet tech during college. My love of animals has been something that has always been at the center of my very existence.

Fostering and rescuing animals fulfilled something in me that I can't quite explain but that I know other people in animal welfare will understand. Seeing a scared animal learn to trust people again is something you won't ever forget. It's an experience that changes your very soul. As I fostered and volunteered, I learned what I liked and didn't like in the world of animal welfare. I quietly tucked away those tidbits until I finally put them to work opening Holiday House Animal Rescue.

I have been studying animal behavior for a long time, and I truly love being able to help animals in need. I previously trained horses, so transitioning that to dogs has been insightful. It deepens my belief that all animals can be trained with care and compassion without resorting to intimidation, pain, or discomfort. That belief and ethical valuation is one of the driving proponents behind my starting my own rescue.

Prior to starting this rescue I have obtained four college degrees and various certificates. I have worked in the legal field, social services, secondary teacher, along with my first very important real job at Dairy Queen. I am a published author under a pen name and am working on another young adult novel currently which will be published under my own name.

I live on a farm with my partner and his daughter. My son and his wife live in Oklahoma. We have been rescuing animals to live in sanctuary on our farm since its inception in 2019. Those animals are becoming part of HHAR as sanctuary animals and as we have room we will add and expand that aspect of this venture as well.

I am so delighted to meet all of you, am incredibly thankful for your support, and hope that you join me to save the lives of more at-risk animals.

welcome

Hello!

We are so glad you're here. Getting this adventure started has been a long time coming, and now that we are officially in operation it feels a little surreal.

We have done our best to be as transparent as possible as we were completing our legal paperwork and collecting donations to get started. If anyone ever wants to see our documents, please just ask. We are more than happy to share anything with anyone. We know how hard people work for their money and time, and you deserve to know you are supporting causes that align with your ethics and that are doing what they say they are doing. So we will always strive to reassure our supporters of that.

Please follow this blog and page for all updates as well as our social media. We will keep this site updated with adoptable pets as well as our sanctuary animals. You can find all of our social media links by clicking here. All of our general donation links are there as well and on the side bar of this website. We hope to connect with y'all!
